Impact of Film Reviews

post4.JPGDoes a good or bad film review have an impact on how viewers would respond to it? Will a good review translate into a box-office blockbuster or a bad review has a reverse effect? The answer is it depends. The role of film reviews is not really to judge how the movie will fare in the box-office but more of educating and informing the viewers of what to expect when they watch the movie. There are times though that a positive review will do wonders for a film just because audiences know so little about it. There are films that because of their casts or due to previous sequels are not affected by critical reviews for the simply reason that audiences have already developed a liking about the movie’s plot. That is also the reason why some actors and actresses have been labeled as box-office drawers because no matter how bad the movie they star in, it still manages to rake in money.
