The anime turned live action movie Dragonball was set to premiere this year but due to needing more time for special effects and avoiding competition from other movies, it was pushed back for an April 2009 release.

Dragonball is a story of a young humanoid boy named Goku, who discovers that he was sent to Earth to destroy the world. Instead, he chose to protect it from an oncoming alien onslaught. Carrying out the request of his dying grandfather, Goku seeks to find the Great Master Roshi and collect all seven Dragonballs before the evil Piccolo does.

Leading the cast are Justin Chatwin as Goku and James Marsters, who was known for playing Spike in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, as Piccolo. Emmy Rossum is also in the cast as Miss Bulma.
