Renee Zellweger plays a rising and ambitious top executive from Miami Florida where she lives and has been making headlines a one of the best lady execs in town. She is sent to a small Minnesota town where she must head a restructuring program to overhaul a flailing blue collar manufacturing plant. She starts on her adventure when at the airport she is greeted by the very chilly air which shocks her into her current predicament. In the spirit of things and after being coldly accepted by the small town which is totally dependent on the plant, she gets clothed up and earn the respect of the community getting down to doing her job. Unfortunately, the losses of the plant have been so much that after all her hard work, the plant is ordered closed to cut losses but having fallen in love with the same town and it’s people she has a change of heart and decides to refocus her ambitions working to keep the plant open and the town happy and employed. That and the fact that she has fallen in love with the local union leader has them and the town working hand in hand to save their only sizable source of income amidst the cold weather.
The movie was set in a small Minnesota town but was actually shot in Winnipeg Canada, one of the coldest places on earth which did have challenges for the crew and cast. Straight out of the airport, they had a briefing on how to survive the utterly bone-chilling cold in the area which was through the casts own words not to be taken easy. Renee as always, brings her charm to the screen where she has managed to garner success and recognition. In the end, the film re-focuses her goals from her career to her life, namely the love part which is the point where the movie evolves upon.
